Witham Way Country Park became the focus of members of the Boston In Bloom team, keen to do all they can to retain the gold award they have won for the past two years.
Alison Fairman, chairman of the Boston in Bloom committee, with fellow volunteers, Rachel Kirby, Jan Dawson, Paul Collingwood, John Bird and Jenny Moore, Boston Borough Council’s environment and sustainability officer inspected and planned walking routes to showcase Witham Way Country Park and the nature reserve.
East Midlands in Bloom will be judging entries across a range of categories and the results will be announced at an awards ceremony to be held at the Boston Stump in September. Boston has won gold for the last two years in the large towns category.
Key points of interest to be featured on the judging route are the orchard, bug park, woodcarvings (produced by Boston and South Holland Wood Carvers) and the wildflower area.
