A hard working team of volunteers have been working in crazy temperatures this morning, to bed a total of 139 different plants along Irby Place in the raised beds, running parralel to the rear of Boston’s Police Station.
Kindly sponsored by Boston Big Local, the aim is to create a pollinator friendly border to attract bees and other pollinating insects.
At peak, our volunteers were working in temperatures around the 25 degree mark.
The new pollinator friendly border now consists of:
Hebe x 12, three varieties attractive to butterflies
Bergenia (Elephants Ears) x 40, clumps of pink flowers providing Spring colour
Geranium Roxanne x 75, a stunning blue/purple perennial which flowers from June to October
Geranium Sanguineum x 12, flowering from May to July
