Hundreds of people gave up their Easter break to help spruce up the town centre and neighbouring areas. Now in its 11th year the 2018 clean up collected 3.6 tonnes of rubbish over four days, a significant reduction on last year’s total of 4.8 tonnes. Items found this year included an ironing board, a computer chair and a baseball bat and much more.
Businesses and local organizations taking part in this year’s Clean Up included Lincolnshire Police, Asda, Lincolnshire Co-op, Calders and Grandidge, Black Sluice Internal Drainage Board and the Environment Agency. ASDA, Freshtime and Co-Op sponsored this year’s event.
Clean-up organiser Jenny Moore, Boston Borough Council’s environment and sustainability officer, said it was good that the evidence, despite the perception of some, was that the town is becoming steadily cleaner each year.
