Willoughby Road Allotment Association has, over the past few years, become a exemplary allotment site, gaining funding from various sources for new initiatives and much more.
Under the enthusiastic leadership of Paul Collingwood, Willoughby Road Allotment Association, has recently had a brand new, state-of-the-art poly-tunnel installed on site, to allow plot holders to grow fresh produce in protected climates.
Early 2018 saw the introduction of the brand new community facilities, and 2019 has seen the addition of wet-pore ground surfacing, and the installation of disabled access ramps to both the community hub, and disabled friendly toilets.
The allotment association continues to work in partnership with local hotel, The White Hart, providing fresh produce for use in the kitchen.
The association now has regular visits from local schools and the Pilgrim Hospital Day Centre, providing education and experience.
Exciting events are a frequent project, with plot holders recently organising an Easter Egg Hunt, Pumpkin & Chilli Festival, and opening the site for the National Garden Scheme Open Days.
