Boston’s brilliant in-bloom team has scooped a fourth gold medal and come top of the large town’s category in the annual East Midlands In-Bloom awards.
Boston In Bloom representatives at the awards on Wednesday (September 19) at the Newark Showground were ecstatic when one top award after another came Boston’s way.
Last year Boston scored 176 points, just missing out in the category top slot to Belper. This time round Boston scored 180.
The art deco garden in Central Park was awarded the prize for best new permanent landscape, receiving a £250 voucher for trees, and the floral piano and soldier display in the Stump grounds received the best First World War award.
Willoughby Road Allotment Association received the It’s Your Neighbourhood Award and the judges’ award went to the garden volunteers at Fydell House.
Boston In Bloom chairman, Alison Fairman, said: “I am proud of all our volunteers and the team from the borough who have made this possible. Our sponsors are vital to this success.”
Vice chairman, Cllr Claire Rylott, added: “A fantastic day. I am so proud of our Boston in Bloom committee, they continue to work so hard for our town. I am so grateful for all the volunteering work undertaken by Boston in Bloom. They all work so hard together with the borough council, to make Boston a more vibrant place to live, work and visit.”
